Last night at Lincoln Center the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards were delivered to fashionable recipients, including designer Marc Jacobs, who won top honors. It was Alexander McQueen who took the spotlight, however. The designer committed suicide earlier this year and was given a special tribute last night—Sarah Jessica Parker delivered that tribute to the late designer (sans notes or teleprompter!), whose Fall 2010 collection was shown for the first time in the States.
Other big winners included Michael Kors (Lifetime Achievement Award), Jason Wu (womenswear), Richard Chai (menswear), Alexis Bittar (accessory design), and Iman received the "Fashion Icon" award, which was presented to her by Isabella Rossellini. The "popular vote" went to Ralph Lauren, again... yawn, and Paper magazine's Kim Hastreiter received an excellence in journalism award (though we much prefer the lexical—and fashion—stylings of the magazine's Mickey Boardman and David Hershkovits).
