The odds are pretty close to certain that you or someone you know is making plans for "an absolutely killer" political Halloween costume. Maybe you'll be sexy Ken Bone, maybe you'll be Hillary Clinton's zombie email server, maybe you'll be the guy with the bad wig and even worse Trump accent trying to hide racist jokes behind irony. Don't do any of that, because those ideas are terrible—but if you do want to combine the election and Halloween, here's a better option: Pedro Reyes's political haunted house Doomocracy at the Brooklyn Army Terminal.

Per their own promotional material, the point of Doomocracy is to "distill the horrors of our political landscape into the form of a haunted house, inviting us to navigate a maze of near apocalyptic torments, from climate change to pandemic gun violence to GMOs." So you know, just in case you thought everything would be nice and calm after the election, it won't be.

Reyes's haunted house, open now through November 6th, features weird and creepy political displays like cheerleaders doing a routine about abortion, "a racially shape-shifting computer avatar spouting corporate come-ons through a large computer screen," and terrible rich people who want to tell you all about their new custom-built spaceship. Scariest of all, the haunted house experience has been completely sold out almost from the start, so if you want to get a look at the scariest political commentary of the year, you'll have to join the waitlist.

Then again, there's a chance your Halloween party winds up scarier and more depressing than even that:
