Oh, dating in New York. If only it worked out in real life as it does on countless TV shows and movies: a meet-cute on the train leads to rousing conversation and a spontaneous drink at a local dive, which is conveniently located right by your apartment! And while that does sound great, modern daters have no time to wait around for serendipity. How many trains will you ride before you catch that special someone's eye? How many trips to your bar before that cutie from last week returns?
Happn, a new dating app developed in the City of Love, seeks to speed up fate by basing your possible matches off location. If you pass each other, your profile will show up on each other's feed. This cuts through the timing mishaps, lapses in attention and thickness of crowds. After all, is anyone really feeling flirty on the morning commute?
Your feed shows multiple matches at once, so you aren't put on the spot and won't suffer from swiper's remorse. Instead, each profile can be perused for photos, a quick bio and where it was you almost met. Happn shows where and how many times you've crossed paths. Was it by your work? Their favorite sushi place? It's a great conversation starter considering you already have something in common.
Happn also gives you options for when someone catches your eye. A single tap of the heart icon indicates you have a crush. If the feeling is mutual, the option for chat opens up. If not, that info remains anonymous. Those bold enough to double-tap that heart icon will send a charm, which will show them your profile regardless if their interest. If they decide to take a shot on you, make sure your ice-breaker is a good one.
Happn is available for free download now on iOS and Andriod.
