Harry Potter and company are in hot water today over a lawsuit filed by a New York-based typeface company who claim they own the right to a very wizardly-looking font used in Potter paraphernalia.
The company, P22 (whose website describes their computer typefaces as "inspired by Art, History, and sometimes Science"), is suing NBC Universal, the company that owns the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" theme park in Orlando, for not requesting permission to use the "Cezanne" font on loads of t-shirts, bags, paper products and more. P22 is suing the company for $1.5 million in damages, though this whole misunderstanding could be resolved over a few friendly rounds of butterbeer.
