Last night James Van Der Beek Tweeted, "Valentine's gift for you—first poster for my new show..." which is sort of a self-promotional "gift" but whatever. DAWSON FOREVER. We hadn't heard of this show yet, which is based here in New York and is called Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, so we clicked. And guess what? In the sitcom, which will air on ABC starting on April 11th, James Van Der Beek plays James Van Der Beek! Which is only slightly less intriguing than if he were to play an older Dawson Leery.
Van Der Beek will play the best friend of Krysten Ritter's character, who is playing a young, single woman in the city (the B in the title of the show). In an interview he joked that he auditioned against "six other James Van Der Beeks, and four of them were not actors, and two of them didn't speak English." Oh, Dawson.
Even stranger, the actress who plays Sally Draper on Mad Men will guest star on the show... also playing herself.
