Earlier today the New York Mets held their 2011 Anthem Search, inviting New York singers and musicians to sing or play the national anthem for a chance to sing at a Mets game. However, applicants had to sing a "30-60 second excerpt of any song except the National Anthem." How will they know if they can remember the words?
Hopefuls reportedly began lining up at 2 a.m., and Mets Senior Vice President for Marketing David Newman told NY1, "This is a pretty good indication of fans' excitement for the upcoming season, to have a couple hundred people come out to try to sing the anthem here." However, if nobody at the audition could even remember the lyrics to "Meet The Mets" can you really call them fans? We just hope someone had the balls to rickroll the judges.
