Even though nothing is happening to the Long Island City home of graffiti (yet), recording artist Joss Stone has joined the crowd calling for the building to be protected from possible demolition. She recently posted a link to a petition to save 5Pointz on Twitter, and wrote, "It would be so sad to see this place die."
Before you ask, "Wait, how the hell does Joss Stone know what 5Pointz is?," she actually flimed her video for "Tell Me 'Bout It" at the iconic building. So far, the petition has gotten over 2,800 signatures, and graffiti artist Jonathan Cohen (aka Meres) told the Daily News he was pleasantly surprised by all the support. "The support that people are showing is a great thing. I'm happy to know that I was able to do something that was able to impact a lot of people," he said. "Regardless of what happens, we've secured a spot in art history, and that's cool to know."
