Back in 2011, the world got its closest look yet at Radiohead frontman and bowler hat enthusiast Thom Yorke's unique dance moves, a mashup of sexy dry heaving and wacky waving flailing arm inflatable tube man. Yorke has taken things to the next level since then as his hair has evolved into a ponytail (which is totally advanced). And during a surprise DJ set at Coachella a few weeks ago, fans got a chance to see what Yorke looks like dancing around in a tank top. Watch the video below—at least it's not the "Pop Is Dead" video.
Thom Yorke doesn't need to dance with anybody but himself! One of our esteemed colleagues noted that Yorke looks like Comic Book Guy after a Subway diet. We all know that Yorke loves dancing on stage during Radiohead shows, but it seems as though he gets extra wacky when he's freed of instrument-playing (or singing) duties. Finally, regardless of how you feel about tank top Thom and his merry ponytail adventures, the intimation that his new solo album (possibly to be released under his solo band moniker Atoms For Peace) may be coming out very soon is cause for excitement. Last weekend, Yorke played five possible new tracks (or remixes of new tracks) during a DJ set at Transmission L.A. (which you can listen to here).
A man who met longtime Radiohead engineer/producer/collaborator and Atoms For Peace member Nigel Godrich also wrote:
Yeah, he said the new AfP record was coming very soon. I’m guessing that’s very soon. He was a VERY VERY VERY nice man. We also met Stanley and Thom. My friend asked Thom for a picture, but his manager said no :( I knew better than to ask so I just told him that he was an inspiration and he was my hero. He smiled and said “Thank you” Thom also confirmed that the new AfP record was due sometime soon. Such a wonderful night!
Let's all just hope the album isn't really called Lost Angeles.
