Well, that was nice while it lasted. Yesterday we, and a number of other outfits, gleefully reported that the beloved Di Fara in Midwood was starting to take orders on Facebook, of all places. But not so fast! This morning Di Fara clarified (on Facebook) the situation in a post called "facebook orders...YES and NO." The gist of it? Ordering on Facebook is probably not a good idea.
Basically you can certainly try and place an order over Facebook, but unless you receive a confirmation message don't expect to have a pie waiting for you. And as "there is only a certain time window per day in which the page is being looked at," it really isn't the most reliable process. SeamlessWeb, this is not.
Here's the message in full:
As per recent News within the last 24 hrs that we are accepting facebook orders , please understand this was not our intention to make this public as we cant promise consistency with it . We do not suggest it as an only source of getting through to us as a short amount of time is spent dedicated to this page and an order may be missed.....saying " I placed an order on facebook" when arriving will only be granted if you actually did and you recieved a message stating your order has been placed. .pretending you did and confusing the staff will put you in the next available spot but not next in line..... All communications are discussed and the staff knows if one did or did not place an order ... If your order was confirmed through a message from us then yes you will recieve it !
There is only a certain time window per day in which the page is being looked at therefore writing a comment that you will be here in an hr does not secure a spot on the list . We are incapable of using facebook as a resource in doing business. The main intention is to be an informative and fun page for those who are new to us and for those who have been fans for a very long time ....
My suggestion to anyone who wants to avoid the waits is to ... try and call first and our voicemail clearly states that if you recieve the voicemail it usually is an indication wait times are to exceed one hour .leaving a message with your name and number to place an order will be ignored . leaving a question about a future large order or information can be done both here and on voicemail . You will recieve a return call and or private message .....
we have recently been selling gift certificates ... this too comes with a set of rules. gift certificates can be purchased Wed thru Friday only. If you can only pick up a certificate on the weekends, it will be necessary to let us know via voicemail or facebook page so that we can have it written out in advance and ready for you to pick it up ...
Due to the high volume of crowds and media attention we continue to recieve, we constantly have to change some ways in which we do things. We do our best to be fair and have been in business for a very long time now. Any info I write or am quoted for is subject to change based upon our capability to keep up with the demand...
We appreciate the business and the fans !!
Thank you
Maggie
