Don't let that "A" grade from the Health Department fool you; according to MTA bus driver Lajzer Grynsztajn, there's bad chicken being served at that JFK Fried Chicken outlet in Sunset Park. Grynsztajn, an MTA bus driver, has filed a lawsuit against the restaurant, alleging that a 2-inch wire coil got lodged in his throat as he ate some chicken breast at the establishment. “I felt a sharp pain, like I was choking,” he tells the Daily News. “I thought I was choking on a bone." He says he soon started coughing up blood, and had to go to the hospital to have it removed. JFK's manager, of course, thinks lawsuit smells fowl.
"That guy has been here for six years eating every day," says a JFK Fried Chicken manager who identified himself as Muhammad Muhammad. "I know him! Because he's from the MTA we hook him up and give him discounts. Now he sues us? I didn't know anything about this wire until I got the lawsuit. And he was in here a couple more times after he says he ate the wire, and he didn't say anything about any wire!" Nevertheless, whether it's true or not, this lawsuit ain't gonna be good for business.
We told Muhammad that Grynsztajn claims he informed a cashier about the wire, and was not shown any sympathy. Muhammad countered, "He eats here, then he leaves, and doesn't say anything. I don't know where he got that wire; we don't use any wire here at all." But Grynsztajn's lawyer insists the incident has scarred his client for life, and that he hasn't eaten out since. And furthermore, "If (Grynsztajn) would have gone up on the bus and started driving, it would have been a catastrophe." Catastrophic, outrageous, egregious, preposterous!
