We know where we'll be next Sunday night—wearing a loincloth sitting in full lotus in the sweet backyard of The Diamond bar enjoying a profound vision of our spirit animal (an owl, natch) inside a freaking sweat lodge. The Center for Investigative Research, an "ad-hoc collective dedicated to searching out the true facts and deeper meanings behind everyday phenomena," will be setting up the sweat lodge and a plunge pool behind our favorite Greenpoint bar. The CIR explains:
We’ll provide the sweat-lodge, plunge-pool, and shaman—you just bring your bathing suit and your sinful self. We’ll honor the traditional sweatlodge experience with sage and incantations (“All my relatives,” anyone?), but we’re also offering a little something extra: A genuine Crawfish Boil for those who like their schvitz a bit fishy! So come on down, and have a little spring break, right here in Brooklyn! NOTE: Bring a towel!! DOUBLE NOTE: The Sweat Lodge is free, but the Crawfish Boil costs money!
Yeah, the White Devil WOULD be charging money for the fruit of the sea, wouldn't he? The Diamond's owner Dave Pollack tells us he'll be charging $8 for 1/2 lb of crawfish "with the works." As always, the shuffleboard table and gondola rides are free. The sweat lodge will be in full swing on Sunday March 24th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
