If you’ve got an adventurous appetite and don’t mind a mob scene, tonight’s Taste of Times Square shindig is for you. Starting at 5 p.m., 46th Street between Ninth Avenue and Broadway will be turned over to vendors serving samples from local restaurants. They’ve got everything from Applebee’s to the Hawaiian Tropic Zone, bros! Peruse the full list here; there are also plenty of non-chains like Chop Suey and Chilean restaurant Pomaire.
Tickets redeemable for "tastes" and beverages go on sale at the main ticket booth at 46th Street and Broadway starting at 3 p.m. While you eat/wait on line to eat, there will also be unspecified "local" entertainment on three stages and swing dance lessons from the dapper dandies at Swing46.
And if you miss today’s chance to taste Times Square, you can show up in August to slip it some tongue. Mark your calendars for August 14th, when the Times Square Kiss In commemorates that day in 1945 when over 750,000 people crowded Times Square to hear Truman announce the surrender of newly-nuked Japan. The first 200 couples to engage in PDA will receive “complimentary commemorative Times Square sailor's caps and roses.”
