Usually, I'm not bothered when the media gets excited about all things Asian. In fact, I think it's a good thing to expose people to the Far East. But for some reason, this description of the cocktail at Jean-Georges Vongerichten nouveau Chinese (or is that Chinois) restaurant 66 in The New York Times style article confused me: "The Shanghai Cosmo at 66, which was created in character with the restaurant's Chinese theme, is a Lucy Liu of a drink it lowers its eyes and kicks, the Asian Charlie's Angel." The restaurant is the Asian Chalie's Angel in Jean-Georges' restaurant empire? 'Cause Lucy Liu is Asian, she fights with coy lowered eyes? James Tung thinks the sentence is too baroque, and maybe that's what bothers me - I can't really make heads or tails of it. The editor missed the boat on this one. But I'd still be happy to drink a Shanghai Cosmo.
