The police are asking the public for help in finding and identifying a man wanted in connection to a series of incidents where he took hopeful renters' money in the 110th Precinct, which covers Corona and Elmhurst in Queens.
Here's a list of the incidents and how much was taken:
1) 10/21/11, 1600 hours, location: 94-17 42 Ave, victim: F/H/32, USC taken: $1500
2) 10/21/11, 0800 hours, location: 94-17 42 Ave, victim: M/H/27, USC taken: $1650
3) 11/12/11, 0800 hours, location: 41-80 Denman Street, victim: M/H/28, USC taken: $1600
4) 11/29/11, 1030 hours, location: 100-22 40 Road, victim: F/H/43, USC taken: $1400
5) 11/25/11, 0700 hours, location: 100-22 40 Road, victim: M/H/28, USC taken: $1500
6) 11/29/11, 1030 hours, location: 100-22 40 Road, victim: F, USC taken: $2300
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 30s, around 5'8"-5'11" tall, and150 pounds with dark hair. Here's a brief video of the suspect:

Sadly, the fake apartment scam is nothing new. If an apartment is asking for a cash security deposit, be VERY wary.
