A two block radius around 40 Wall Street was shut down at approximately 10 a.m. this morning as the NYPD Bomb Squad responded to a call about a suspicious package. As you can see from the photo above, officers took the usual precautions, but it turned out to be a false alarm. According to a non-official report over the wires, it consisted of a circuit board and wires wrapped in a putty like substance and affixed to a barricade. An NYPD spokesman confirms it was a "hoax device" made of clay with a flash drive attached to it.

The Bomb Squad "deemed the package to be safe and not any hazard to community," and gave the all clear. Investigators are now going through security footage to determine who's responsible for the hoax.
