In that Bust Magazine interview Chloë Sevigny recently did, she mentioned being interested in joining her community board (Manhattan's CB 3), saying she'd like to "help preserve some of the older buildings, try and save as many as possible and try to stop them from building as high."

Not so fast actress lady! Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer got word of this and told the Daily News it's not that easy, noting, "We have a merit-based process. There's no special treatment here." But he did add, "It actually is exciting that someone of her stature and notoriety would even consider serving her community as a board member."

However, is Ms. Sevigny really looking to save older buildings... or is she looking to gain some control over the nightlife scene? Some worry that if she got on the board she'd spend her time campaigning for her brother Paul Sevigny. One source told the paper, "Community boards have huge control over the nightlife scene. Chloë has been openly invested in keeping the city's after-hours scene alive, ever since her brother Paul's infamous Beatrice Inn got shut down in 2009." In fact, just last year Chloë hosted a Save the Nightlife event, in which she attempted to mobilize the troops to "get behind elected officials and candidates for public office who understand how important a vibrant night time economy plays for NYC."

If she does apply, she'll need to fill out the same application hundreds of others so, and be interviewed by Stringer's staff, as well as go before a screening panel. So we suppose if she attempts to get her name on the CB 3 roster, the decision will all depend on how many other members of the board want to get in to the next Sevigny-approved/run downtown club.
