After putting up valiant efforts in Games 1 and 2 of their series against the Celtics, the Knicks fell flat at home and will have all summer to think about a sweep. Playing shorthanded—Chauncey Billups missed his third straight game and Amar'e Stoudemire wasn't at full strength—the Knicks fell behind and made a furious comeback to make the final score respectable. Kevin Garnett lit up the Knicks, scoring 26 points, and Rajon Rondo had 21. Carmelo Anthony led all scores with 32. Stoudemire had 19 on 5-of-20 shooting. Those two will be back next year, but will Donnie Walsh? That is of course assuming there is a next season. A labor dispute looms.

For the second time this week, Mariano Rivera blew a save, but this time the Yankees recovered to win, 6-3 in 11 innings. He almost took the loss in Baltimore, but Robinson Cano threw out what would have been the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth. In the top of the 10th, the Yankees had the go-ahead run thrown at the plate when Derek Jeter tried to score on an Alex Rodriguez fly ball. But Russell Martin put the Yankees ahead for good in the 11th. The team got strong relief from Boone Logan and Buddy Carlyle. Rafael Soriano was unavailable.

The Mets have won four straight. David Wright homered twice and Jon Niese pitched seven innings as the Mets swept the Diamondbacks with an 8-4 win. Jason Pridie hit his first big-league homer as well. After a day off, the Mets start a six-game road trip in Washington.
