Yesterday the NYPD released surveillance video of a man brutally attacking and macing a 47-year-old man and his six-year-old daughter in a Bronx laundromat. Hours later the alleged attacker, 27-year-old Fernando Gonzalez surrendered to police. So what was the fight about? Apparently the altercation started because Gonzalez believed his victim had stolen his wife's laundry cart.

The incident occurred on Saturday night about 6:10 p.m. when the coin-operated laundromat was very busy. According to a laundromat employee, "Gonzalez was angry over someone taking his wife's laundry cart during the busy hours and beat up the person he thought had snatched it." It is not entirely clear if the victim was the person who took the cart. What is clear, and you can see in the below video, is that, as a witness recalled, "It was really, really awful. The way he beat that man was horrible."

Gonzalez turned himself into the police last night around 8 p.m. and has been charged with assault.
