Police on Tuesday arrested a man they suspect of raping and robbing a teenage girl in Manhattan last week, NYPD officials said.

Germaine Parham, 33, allegedly approached the 14-year-old girl in her Stuyvesant Town building around 11:40 a.m. last Thursday. Police said he sexually assaulted her, stole her cellphone and fled.

NYPD members assigned to the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force caught Parham outside of the city on Tuesday, according to officials, though they did not say exactly where.

Parham was brought back to Manhattan and charged with rape, robbery, predatory sexual assault, kidnapping, sex abuse and criminal weapons possession, the NYPD said.

Police said Parham is currently homeless. Information for his lawyer was not yet available early Wednesday.

City data shows reported rapes have risen slightly so far this year compared to the same point last year in the 13th Precinct, which includes StuyTown/Peter Cooper Village, Gramercy, Flatiron and Union Square. The precinct recorded three rapes this year through Feb. 1, up from one during the same period in 2025.

Citywide, the number of reported rapes so far this year is roughly level with the same timeframe last year, the data shows.

This is a developing story based on preliminary information from police and may be updated.
