A man was struck by a train and lost his right foot after he stumbled and fell off the subway platform in SoHo yesterday.
An FDNY spokesperson said that the 23-year-old man was standing on the Spring Street platform waiting for a 6 train around 10:15 a.m. Saturday when the incident occurred. The man, whom the News says was drunk at the time, lost his balance and fell onto the tracks as the train was arriving. His right foot was sheared off at the ankle.
The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Bellevue Hospital. He is expected to survive the incident.
In a separate incident, at least one other person was struck by a train. A man was struck by a Q train during an attempted suicide at the Prince Street station in Manhattan around 2:45 a.m. this morning. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive.
The News adds that another man suffered a fatal heart attack while on an A train in Brooklyn as well.
