A man was fatally shot on a Bronx subway platform Tuesday afternoon after a fight that started on the train, police said.
The incident happened at the 170th Street station on Grand Concourse just before 3 p.m. on the Manhattan-bound B/D platform, according to authorities.
Officials said 41-year-old Adrian Dawodu of Manhattan was shot once in the groin and once in the thigh. Emergency medical workers transported him to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police are still investigating and have not made any arrests. Officials said the shooting happened after a dispute on the train that then spilled out onto the platform.
Dawodu lived in NYCHA’s Rangel Houses in Harlem, according to the NYPD.
It was the city’s first fatal subway shooting this year, according to police officials. While shootings are down significantly citywide, shootings are up so far this year in the Bronx by 24%, according to NYPD statistics.
