An MTA bus driver was injured during an attempted robbery this morning.
According to the MTA, M72 bus driver was in his bus at 66th Street and Freedom Place around 7:30 a.m., when a male tried to take his gold chain. During the struggle, the bus driver suffered a laceration and was taken to the hospital.
The suspect fled.

It unclear whether the bus was in service and if there were other passengers on board. Sometimes at the end of the route, the bus drivers will take a break before starting again.
The intersection is where a number of luxury Trump Place buildings are located. One worker said that he didn't see anything, just a number of police officers arriving at the scene, with one asking, "Did someone call?"
The MTA has been rolling out safety partitions for drivers, but not all buses have them.
