Here's a rarity: As of this writing there are no watches, warnings or weather advisories posted for our local National Weather Service forecast area. That's a far cry from the record snowfall we had on Monday. What record snowfall you ask? A trace of snow was observed at both LaGuardia and JFK -the first time snow had been recorded on March 25th since their observations began in the late 1940s.
Despite the lack of advisories there is a slight chance of scattered showers this afternoon as a shortwave disturbance creates a bit of instability as it passes overhead. Otherwise we're looking at a mix of sun and clouds and a high near 50 degrees. That will make today the fourteenth straight day of cooler than normal weather. Tomorrow is likely to be day 15 of the cool streak as the trough over Nova Scotia continues to direct northwesterly breezes our way. Look for another slight chance of showers on Thursday.
High pressure arrives on Friday and that's going to bring a touch more sun and warmth. Just a touch. Friday and Saturday are expected to warm to the lower 50s under mostly sunny skies. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 58 on Easter Sunday, but the Weather Channel isn't nearly so sanguine, saying Sunday will stay around 50. We are rooting for the NWS on this one!
