Most of the city's workforce flooded the subway system early yesterday in an attempt to escape the Devastating Snowstorm That Never Was But Could Have Been. But just hours before all the humans fled, one local rat got a ride to school in a homo sapien straphanger's hood. There are only so many ways to transport your rat, after all.

A Redditor spotted the above rodent peeking out of a fellow rider's hood on a downtown 4 train yesterday. "He was bringing his pet rat to school but it freaked everyone out on the train. I jumped back when I first saw it because I thought it just crawled in his hood," he told us, adding, "He just asked me if he should leave the train. I said I was fine that he just startled me at first because it was crawling around on his head."

The unidentified rider and his rat friend reportedly left the train after fellow straphangers expressed their discomfort, presumably heading to Fairway to stock up on olives. Again, there are are only so many ways to transport your rat.
