Just in time for Fashion Week, a scrappy entrepreneur from the Dominican Republic attempted to enter the United States at JFK, but was stopped by the Department of Boring PhilistinesU.S. Department of Customs & Border Protection agents for attempting to smuggle two pounds of cocaine in her bra and shoes. According to a press release, Luz Massiel Pérez Arlequín was stopped at JFK on January 12 after agents "determined [Arlequín's shoes] to have unusually thick soles" and "found [her] bra to be unusually thick." If only the Thursday Styles section hadn't killed that "Fat Bras, Fat Laces Turn Faces" story last month, Arlequín might be free right now.

Two pounds of cocaine is worth around $80,000 on the street, or 800,000,000,000 cocaine shoe jokes on Twitter. The 12th marked a busy period for customs at JFK: the next morning, Samuel Osafo arrived at JFK on a flight from Ghana. Agents found 11 pounds of heroin worth around $2.5 million in Osafo's duffel bag, which is a pretty gauche way of getting it here.
