Police are searching for a trio of teenagers accused of robbing J train riders in three separate instances over the past two weeks.
Each of the incidents occurred at stations along Jamaica Avenue between 102nd and 121st streets. On one occasion on January 9, one of the suspects punched a 22-year-old man in the face. The assailants then rummaged through his pockets and ultimately fled empty handed.
The same suspects also snatched an iPhone 5 from a woman at 121st St. on January 12, and an iPhone 4S from another woman on January 16 at 111th Street. The suspects fled immediately thereafter and neither victim was injured.
Police describe the suspects as black men in their late teens, ranging from 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10. One suspect was last seen wearing a red winter jacket, dark pants and dark shoes. Another was dressed in general "dark clothing" and the third was wearing a dark winter jacket over a gray or white hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
