The nontroversy surrounding potential GOP senate candidate Marc Cenedella continues! Yesterday the Times reported on the TheLadders.com founder's recently disappeared misogynistic blog posts—much to the joy of incumbent Kristen Gillibrand—and today, after calling Gillibrand's part in the PIPA mess "unfortunate," Cendella copped to Capital Tonight to having "full responsibility" for the offending blog posts.
Saying that his chances of running for the Senate are "9.2 out of 10," the internet millionaire went on to say regarding the offending posts (including the one pushing for more women to celebrate Steak and Blow Jobs day) that "I’m the publisher, I’m responsible for the content. I can’t tell you which author wrote which one. I’m the publisher, I take responsible for the whole thing."
But just in case you want somebody to blame, he's got a sad strawman for you. See, the blog in question was started in 2003 and had lots of contributors: "Cenedella said a half dozen people were contributing to an earlier blog he launched in 2003 and that a college roommate who died in 2007 wrote about half."
Still, though Cenedella admits the posts were his responsibility and that he is thisclose to running for Senate, he still was shocked—SHOCKED—that the posts might be drawing attention now. "This is a smear attack by Kirsten Gillibrand who obviously has an interest in keeping me out of the race," he said.
