Tyre Davis, the 17-year-old Bronx teen who last year was allegedly beaten in an an alley by two NYPD officers, has filed a federal lawsuit against the NYPD. The suit is in addition to assault charges he filed last summer against officers Joseph Murphy and Jose Ocasio. Davis is seeking unspecified damages for having his civil rights violated.

Last year Davis told the News he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after pointing out that it smelled like dog crap while standing next to a police officer in Fordham Heights. When he was released, he claims Murphy and Ocasio were waiting for him outside the station house and beat him viciously in a nearby alley (which, lucky for him, was caught on surveillance cameras).

According to today's filings, Murphy allegedly smacked Davis in the face with his badge when the boy asked for his badge number. His lawyer claims the officers beat the teen "with a level of viciousness and bodily disregard that most people would not use against a dog."
