Two men, one of whom had his hand severed, are in serious condition after being struck by an M train in Brooklyn early this morning.
Police say the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. A man was standing on the tracks of the Myrtle Avenue station with his back toward the train when he was struck. During the subsequent rescue operation, police found a second man on the tracks who had also been struck.
Both men were seriously injured, and at least one of them suffered a severed hand. The first man was taken to Bellevue Hospital, and the second was taken to Elmhurst.
Cops told us that they received a 911 call for a disorderly man prior to the incident at the station, and they believe that may have been one of the victims. Cops also told the Daily News that alcohol may have been involved in the incident.
They add that the investigation is ongoing.
