The ongoing Marriage Equality debate in Albany could all come down to the vote of Republican Staten Island Senator Andrew Lanza, a fact whose humor was not lost on Jon Stewart on The Daily Show last night.
In a segment that mostly focused on the Gay Girl in Damascus blogger who turned out to be a straight man nowhere near Damascus, Stewart still found time to make light of the debate in Albany (and New York's long history of homosexuals).
“This could take a while,” he said. “Staten Island Republican, eh? I guess gay marriage rests on whether this guy is willing to be called the Staten Island fairy for the rest of his life. But you know what? It’s good news. Moving in the right direction.”
