A major part of the reasoning behind the proposal to ban food on the subway currently in the State Senate is that your leftovers are many rats main courses. So what better time to sit back and watch some videos of rats hanging out in subway stations, chilling out and taking their people food for a stroll?
First, via Animal, we have some rats fiercely fighting in the tracks over a walk the tracks with a bagel (maybe an H&H bagel?). They are so absorbed in the fight they don't notice the train coming right for them. Fun!
Of course, as you can see in the next video, it isn't just those two. Lots of rats like bagels. Lots of them. Perhaps with a schmear of cockroach?
And finally, just for good measure, it is amazing how fearless those little vermin are. Here's a guy standing on a platform completely unphased by the human shoving a camera in his face (three cheers for the videographer who turned his phone on its side!):
