Three World Trade Center concrete workers were arrested at the construction site this morning on charges of selling marijuana to other workers. The Port Authority received a tip about the drug ring about seven months ago, and an investigation led them to three employees of Sorbrara Construction, the Long Island company whose website describes them as "one of the most highly regarded concrete superstructure firms in New York City."
Brian McDermott, John Fama, and Cesar Rivera were arrested as they showed up to work this morning, and are facing five counts of drug sale and possession. A Port Authority representative told the Post, "Now we’re going to lean on them to give up their source." They added that the workers had a particularly easy time of pushing drugs at the WTC site: "It's a construction site," they said. “There aren’t any cops walking around.” Best of all, there's plenty of room to dance!
WTC workers have earned quite a reputation for hitting the bong sauce on the job: Hardhats have been tossed off the site for enjoying liquid lunches not infrequently over the past three years.
