A sailor was rescued by the NYPD after drifting for days near Rockaway Point with no food, no fuel, a ripped sail, and a dead cell phone.

Three crew members were rescued from the New York Harbor at about 9:45 this morning after their tugboat, the Katherine G., overturned near Liberty Island.

An officer sets the scene: "It's dark, the water's getting rougher, the wind is about 50 knots, you can see lightning in the distance." Perfect time to whip out the ol' cell phone!
