Thousands descended on Fifth Avenue near St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the annual event.

A parade, a pitcher, an artist and a romance novel walk into a bar.

It doesn't get any bigger than New York City. The parade gets underway at 11 a.m.

New York City was the Palermo of America on Monday, as Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul, and other luminaries marched up Fifth Avenue.

The annual event has been running since 1958. This year's grand marshal is salsa legend Tito Nieves.

Officials say the Manhattan St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday and the NYC Half Marathon on Sunday will affect street traffic.

Mayor Eric Adams announced the event last month.

The 97th annual parade steps off Thursday, Nov. 23 in the Upper West Side.

The event, which is now in its 47th year, features dancers, floats, food, and music from across Latin America.
