The Daily News took

a look at some city politicians (and possible 2013 mayoral candidates), and the findings may shock you: Apparently, politicians network at parties. That's right, pols like Comptroller John Liu, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn were all schmoozing during the holiday season in December, but only Liu could walk away with the title "partier-in-chief."

Liu reportedly went to 57 parties and galas in December, once topping out at eight parties in a single night. de Blasio managed 36 parties, and Quinn just 13. Liu also attended about 35 Lunar New Year celebrations this spring. It's unclear if no other candidates were included because they're not mayoral hopefuls, didn't want to disclose their schedules or the News just doesn't like them, because we're pretty sure everywhere we turn Marty Markowitz is at another event making another awful joke. Just remember PEP member Patrick Sullivan's take on Cathie Black's appointment: "If you don't go to the right cocktail party, you're not going to be considered." And it worked for her, right?
