The last day of spring is a winner. Thank you Canada and your lovely high pressure systems! A shortwave passing above the surface high is producing a few clouds but otherwise this afternoon will remain dry, with temperatures getting up to the upper 70s.
Enjoy the dry weather while you can. The Canadian high will abandon the city overnight, leading to a mixed bag of weather for the remainder of the week. Tuesday morning will start out with more sun than clouds but the clouds should dominate after the summer solstice occurs at 1:16 EDT. As the post-solstice temperature warms to the lower 80s tomorrow, the humidity will build and there will be an outside chance of showers or thunderstorms.
When summer arrives the atmosphere's circulation slows down, but not typically on the exact day of the solstice. A warm front will approach the city on Wednesday but is expected to stall to our south. That will mean clouds and humidity and at least a chance of showers or thunderstorms through Saturday, with Wednesday currently having the best chance of being wet. Look for highs in the low 80s or thereabouts each day.
