Oh Anthony Weiner, will you never shrivel up and disappear? It appears the disgraced former Congressman has paid a political consulting group over $100,000 for polling and research this month, fueling more fun rumors that he's going to attempt a major political comeback soon.

Yesterday, Weiner's people filed a report with New York election officials showing they'd hired a research firm to conduct two polls, paying around $50,000 for each one. And insiders say it's a sign he means business. "When you spend $50,000 on a poll, that’s the real thing," a political insider told the Post. "You’re getting everything you can find out from voters. This guy spent a hundred grand." Then again, Weiner's still pretty well-endowed; he's got $4.3 million left in his campaign account, so there's a good chance he's just testing the waters to see if it's even worth making a run.

And while Weiner had been gearing up to run for mayor before his infamous sexting scandal hit in 2011, he might not be shooting for Gracie Mansion if he does try to make a comeback: in January, voters reported getting strange calls from a pollster who seemed to be gauging Weiner's chances for the City Comptroller seat. But there's been no activity from his campaign since they paid for the polls on March 4th and 5th, and advisors say that's not a good sign. "If someone is thinking about running and doesn’t run, it shows the polls are not favorable,” a political consultant told the Post “No one boycotts an election they think they can win." Then again, keeping a little Weiner in the news is never a bad thing—as long as he's still dicking around with politics! We'll be here all weekend folks.
