Last month, an out-of-control car wreaked havoc near Herald Square, hitting cars and ultimately driving up onto the sidewalk and into the Forever 21 store on West 34th Street. Now it turns out that the woman accused of the drunken chaos immediately claimed it wasn't her.

Stella Mednik, a former lawyer, was arrested by police after the crash. Cops say she had a 0.185 blood alcohol level—more than double the legal limit. But the Post reports that shortly before the Breathalyzer she "laughably" told police, "I wasn’t driving. I wasn’t drinking."

Mednik allegedly hit a car near Broadway and West 34th, and the other driver tried to confront her. One witness told WCBS 2, "She must have freaked out. She backed up, took off, went around on the other side of the street, went through the intersection, skidded out, fishtailed, then fishtailed again the other way and smacked into all the cars waiting at the light on that side of the street. Cut across, she jumped the curb, and literally five bodies flying in the air."

Five people were injured, including one who was pinned between the car and the window of Forever 21. Angel Aguilar, who happened to be in the store, told us, "The woman that was pinned was saved by the glass window. She flew through it. The glass saved her life."

Prosecutors told the Post that "cops found two crack pipes in her car and stolen merchandise from Lululemon." Mednik was in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to a number of charges, including DWI and reckless endangerment. A prosecutor said, "The available laws don’t capture the egregious nature of the crime."
