Though we miss Jon Stewart very much, he's spent his post-Daily Show days nobly saving abused animals with his wife, activist Tracey Stewart. This week, the couple saved "Lily," a half-blind and abused pony who was found in Pennsylvania covered with more than 100 marks from what appeared to be a paintball gun.
When Lily was brought to the New Holland Sales Stables in Lancaster County in March by her owner, Philip Price Jr., she was emaciated, lame, and half-blind, according to veterinarians. She was also covered with marks consistent with splatters from a paintball gun, though authorities have not officially determined how she got those. Price, 65, had been attempting to auction off Lily, but he was arrested, and was convicted of three counts of animal cruelty on Friday.
Lily, meanwhile, will get a new home at the Stewarts' farm, Bufflehead Farm, in New Jersey. There, she will have a number of horse friends, along with cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys, and this adorable goat. She has reportedly gained "several hundred pounds" and is adapting to being a pirate horse.
