Today the Post runs an essay penned by Paul Schaberger—father of Officer Alain Schaberger, who was killed after being pushed off a Brooklyn stoop by George Villanueva—and he has some advice for the cops out there. He writes, "To all the officers who supported us and to every man and woman wearing a badge, do not do this to us again, or, especially, to your own family. You shoot the son of a bitch, and tell the reporters to come and talk to me." And that, children, is how the rubber-gun squad was born.

Villanueva was indicted on murder charges on Friday, but his lawyer claimed he is innocent. Lawyer Kleon Andreadis said Villanueva "never touched the officer," but that Schaberger's partner turned around and accidentally knocked him off the stoop. Villanueva told the Daily News, "I did not know anyone had fallen. The only thing I'm guilty of is domestic abuse," of which he has been accused 20 times.

Paul Schaberger thanks the NYPD and Mayor Bloomberg for the overwhelming support his family has received. He said of Bloomberg, "He offered comforting words, and when I said how incredible the support had been, he said, 'Unfortunately, we get too much practice.'" Villanueva faces life without parole in prison.
