It has snowed—again—and there's a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the tristate area. The NYC Office of Emergency Management issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory and suggested residents take mass transit instead of driving (but if they are driving, take major roads and highways, listen to traffic reports and drive carefully!). And the Department of Sanitation issued a Snow Alert, which means that Sanitation workers are to "gear up" for the snow. Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty said on Good Day New York, "I think we’re in really good shape this morning. It might be white on your street, but we’ll be there."

Doherty also spoke about the costs of clearing the snow, which comes to $1.3 million per inch, "Sometimes you don't spend it all. In this case, we're going to spend it all." Other things to note: There is garbage pick up today, but alternate side of the street parking is suspended (meter regulations are in effect).
